Balance
Wei Ling Gallery 2011

The Balance Series explores the relationship between inside and outside spaces—both physical and emotional. These works blur the lines between what feels safe and contained and what is open and unpredictable, creating a sense of tension. Rooms blend with landscapes, walls fade into the sky, and figures appear suspended, caught between stability and collapse. The series shows how our inner lives and outer environments are always connected, each influencing the other.

The compositions mix rigid architectural elements with softer, organic details. Staircases leading nowhere, floating objects, and suspended figures symbolize the fragility of balance. Each piece captures the feeling of being in-between—neither fully inside nor outside. The Balance Series invites viewers to reflect on finding stability in a constantly shifting world, offering a meditation on the delicate act of staying balanced between safety and uncertainty.
